A hand-held thumb release, like Tru Ball's Rave or T-Rex, fires off a trigger under your thumb and is the easiest release to punch without noticing, because the trigger is right there the instant your pin settles. Stan's OnneX Clicker was built to fix exactly that: it pairs a thumb trigger with an audible click, developed with Shot IQ's back-tension coaching method, so you hear the shot coming instead of snapping it. A true hinge, like Stan's Lynx, removes the trigger altogether; you build tension in the hook until it rotates and fires on its own, which forces a surprise break and is the standard tool for retraining a punchy shot. Tru Ball's Goat converts between thumb and hinge in about 30 seconds, useful if you're not sure which one your shot needs yet. TruFire's Hardcore and Scott's Shark are wrist-strap releases instead, simpler to load and a common choice for hunters who want less to manage in cold hands.
