Best Arrow Setup for PSE Sicario (2025)
The perfect arrow for your PSE Sicario
The PSE Sicario is a 357 fps IBO speed bow with a 5.25" brace — the fastest stock compound on the market. That speed has spine consequences. Here's how to build an arrow that survives it.
Recommended arrow spec for the Sicario
For a 70 lb / 29" Sicario hunter: target a 250 spine in 5mm (.204) ID, 28" cut length, 100–125 gr point. This gives you ~290 fps at the chrono and 12–13% FOC — fast and flat, ideal for North American whitetail and antelope where the animal can react before the arrow arrives.
If you want to lean into the Sicario's speed for long-range work (50+ yd shots common): 250 spine, 100 gr point, AAE Hybrid 16 vanes for minimum drag. You'll lose a bit of FOC margin but gain another 3–5 fps.
- Shaft: Easton 4mm Axis Long Range (.166 ID) for ultimate speed, OR Easton 5mm Axis (.234 ID) for forgiveness
- Spine: 250 (60–75 lb), 200 (75–85 lb)
- Point weight: 100 gr for max velocity, 125 gr for balance
- Vanes: AAE Hybrid 16 (mechanicals) or Hybrid 23 (fixed). Avoid anything larger — wasted drag on a speed bow.
What 357 fps actually means for your tape
A Sicario at 70 lb / 29" shooting a 425 gr arrow will measure around 295–300 fps at the chrono. That's roughly 15 fps faster than a 340 IBO bow with the same setup. On a 60 yd shot, that translates to about 1.5" less drop — useful for cleaner pin spacing on your sight tape.
Generate your tape with two chrono readings (launch + 60 yd) using our Sight Tape generator. The dual-velocity model will give you pin-perfect marks calibrated to your exact arrow.
Sicario tuning notes
Cam timing is critical. The Sicario's binary cams are unforgiving — even half a degree off and you'll see horizontal tears in paper. Check timing pins before every tuning session.
Short brace height. The 5.25" brace means hand torque shows up downrange. Use a stabilizer setup that balances the bow forward (10" front + 8" side bar) to reduce torque transfer.
Don't undervane. Speed bows are tempting to undervane for more fps, but at 290+ fps the broadhead steering load is real. Stick to 1.85" minimum for mechanicals, 2.3" for fixed.
